A Quick Way to Know What You Really Want.
You have been there. A life choice is presented, and you don’t know which direction to go. You find benefit and costs for each option. There is fear that you will make the “wrong” choice and your mind analyzes the heck out of it. Often, you look to others for answers. Running it by your partner, friends, family, and maybe even strangers. Having to make a decision and not knowing what it is you really want can be exhausting, cause brain fog, and distract you from other things that might need your attention. Well, I have a quick way to get clarity.
Flip a coin. That’s right. Heads you do this, tails you do that. Be clear about what exactly represents heads and tales. Then flip. You will have your answer immediately. Not because you are trusting your fate to a coin flip, but, because in your gut, you will instantly know what you really want. If you flipped heads and you suddenly are relieved then there it is. If you flip tails and you automatically want to do 2 out of 3 then the odds are that tails was not the answer you wanted.
Flipping a coin gets you out of your head and into your body. It allows your gut to speak up. It evokes your intuition instantly. It stops the mental chatter, the guilt, and the “should.” The next step it to stick to your gut decision by setting boundaries. Sometimes we need to set those boundaries with ourselves. Agreeing to end the mental analyzation, refusing any shame about your decision, and curing any fears about being judged by others about your decision. In setting boundaries with others notice if you find yourself justifying your decision or if “no” can be a complete sentence. When your intuition KNOWS, it brings reassurance that you are on the right track. Protect that rigorously.
